Friends in Seattle,

Pete Stewart, producer of Let Us Reconcile and front man of Grammatrain, is having his album release show in Seattle tonight. I recorded some upright bass on it back in October. Tommy designed the concert poster, and label-mate Tony Kevin, Jr is opening the show. So, there you have it. All in the family.

This weekend I had the privilege of playing bass with Lower Lights Burning at their Q Cafe show. Abby Gundersen from The Courage joined us on violin. I must say, their latest EP Climbing Out from the Dark and their new, unrecorded songs, are their best yet. It’s great when an EXCELLENT band keeps getting better and better.

Here are two songs from the concert on Monday. “Samson”, one of the most profoundly penitent songs I’ve heard, and “Answers”, so passionate you just have to listen.

Bruce and I recently had the privilege of recording bass and drums on our friend Liddy Voetberg’s debut solo album, He Leadeth Me. She just had her album release show, and Bruce and I were a part of the 20 some musicians invited to back her up.

The album packaging was designed by Karli Fairbanks, who designed our cover for Let Those Who Have Ears Hear and recorded our latest album, Freeze & Thaw. The album also features Abby Gundersen, from The Courage.

You can watch a video of Bruce and me backing up Liddy on the classic “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” right here.

While on tour this past November, designer Paul Hoppe skillfully captured a performance of Freeze & Thaw and Trust, Love, Suffer, the double track opener from our new EP, at a church in Southern California. Trombonist Michael Porter, who was touring with us, joined us on stage.

Later that show, we sang with The Denouement and a group of California musicians for a rousing rendition of their song, Ocean Floor.

Merry Christmas to one and all! So much love from us boys!
