Our Portland trip was fueled by burgers and greasy spoon diners. On our way out of Washington we stopped by one of our favorite burger joints in Castle Rock. We spotted a trailer stocked with sheep in the parking lot.

We got to Mississippi Pizza a with a few hours to spare. I set out to find a cafe with wi-fi to set up shop. Two cafes in ten blocks, closed by 7. That’s when I realized we weren’t in Seattle any longer. So I joined everyone else at a burrito joint where we semi-loitered. We bought a few Izzes, and Tommy snapped some shots of the toy dinosaurs covering a nearby table.

The next night we played a house show. It had big beautiful windows that certainly had a lovely view in the past. Unfortunately, about two feet out the window was a wall. The times they are a changin’.

Here’s the guy behind the camera 95% of the shots. Tommy’s been shooting a lot, and editing the photos on our drives between shows. DANG.
The house show was followed by a brief jam session; the sound of violin, harmonica, drums, bass, ukulele, guitar, and half a dozen percussion instruments filled the room for a good 15 minutes. Tom Rorem played drums first, and Tric took over when he stepped outside. Abigail tore it apart. Truly, this Abby Gundersen girl has tripled in ability on her instrument since the beginning of our last tour.

After the show we went to some hot cakes place. Don’t recall the name. But it served the BIGGEST portion of biscuits and gravy I’ve seen in my life.

The Rose City. A lovely place. We really enjoyed visiting Portland again. We’ll be back soon!

I enjoyed seeing your blog and all the great photos. It’s great to read about your travels. I loved your show at the Grind, Cedar City, Utah. Keep the passion burning.

I could swear the guy in the tall hat (peering-in, 3rd from bottom) lives in PT. Plays accordion, I believe.
